License/Dongle Activation

License Activation for the web-protected "Lost-Dongle-" or Trial-Version  (does not apply to the dongle protected program)

A dialog box providing the following options appears when starting DigiElch 8.0 for the first time
 

Install as standalone program

Install as trial

Install as network client

The input of a valid product key is required to Install as standalone program or to Install as network client. This option enables the user to continue working with a previously activated license after re-installing or updating the program.
Otherwise, click on Install as trial . You will be asked to register with your name and your e-mail address . If you have purchased a license the activation of the program is automatically accomplished within two business days (usually within a few hours). You will be informed by e-mail as soon as your license is activated. In the meantime the unactivated program is running in trial mode. If no license has been purchased the program remains in trial mode and stops working after two weeks.

 

License Synchronization
The synchronization of the license status between web server and installed program is done in varying time intervals. The following steps must be executed in order to accomplish that any modifications in the license status take immediately effect on the installed program:
 

make sure to be connected to the Internet.

start the program or close all simulation documents.

click on Help  -> View License Status.

 

Dongle Activation                          

DigiElch 8.FD

The dongle shipped to the user is not yet activated. After receiving the dongle the user is asked to contact ElchSoft and to submit the User-ID of his dongle. The latter is of the form "DE7FXXXX"  and can be read on the label of the dongle. The activation file matching the submitted User-ID will be uploaded within 24 hours. Make sure to be connected to the Internet, start DigiElch and continue with "OK" in the appearing dialog box. You will see in a message box whether the dongle has been successfully installed or whether the activation file is not yet available. If you do not see any message box it is most likely that access to Internet is blocked for DigiElch. The latter happens sometimes if the activation is tried on institutional computers protected by a stringent hardware firewalls. In this case either the firewall settings must be adjusted such as to enable Internet access for DigiElch or the activation should be done on a private computer protected by the standard Windows firewall.  After activation the dongle can be used on any other computer without requiring access to the Internet. Note, however, that DigiElch may not be able to download/install software updates if you are exclusively working on computers where access to the Internet is denied for DigiElch.
